What Happen To The Days

What happen to the days.
when kids were kids?
They could stay out all day
and not have to be worried about being killed.
When kids had,respect,parents didn't neglect.
You lived in the hood or projects.
When cool cups were sold ice cold never got scared of getting old.
When we shared secrets they went untold.
When the whole hood knew your name.
We were the generation that was really outside.
Not the generation staying in the house playing video games.
The playground was the place to be.
When families really sat for dinner like a real family.
When the ni&&as on the block knew their place.
They watched over the hood and kept the elderly safe.
When we had cookouts, and Big mama was running the house.
When we didn't talk back to grown ups
Or we got popped in the mouth.
Where church was the place to be so we could fellowship and our souls be set free.
Now it's 2023 where people have no regard for life.
Where saying hello could get you gun down in broad daylight.
Where kids are so out of control, when saying no will make them slit your throat.
Where worshipping God is a crime.
When just walking out the door may be your last time.
To tell your family and friends you love them so.
It's sad the world has become so cold.
